Whether it is cheering her for taking on the hard-hitting world of sports television or enjoying her on BT, Jody Vance is a woman with a wide range of interests and passions. Whether vegetable gardening and cooking with partner Brian, walking furry Fenway and Baxter each morning, or holding onto son Brady with the strength of a mothers arms, Jody Vance is a driven woman. As she moves on from Breakfast Television, those who watch her and know her, realize that she is working on ‘something’, and we cannot help but wait and watch as she continues her journey with her career and family.
BLUSHVancouver had the opportunity to catch up with Jody in between family events and summertime shenanigans and grab get a quick interview to gather more insight to this woman who we have shared coffee with for five years.
Jody Vance talks Life
What ignited the spark in you to live a life with zest?
I was brought up to truly believe that anything is possible – anything – with hard work, preparation, dedication and focus. There was a lot of: “remember Jody…you get back in life what you put into it.” I believe it, in my soul. It’s worked out very well.
What motivates you to make change?
It might sound cliché, but, I feel change in the air. It’s palpable — my mind wanders to things anew. Staying open to new opportunities and adventures has always, very consistently, been a great thing in hindsight. I like to leap and let the net appear….I do not fear change.
What is your greatest fear, and how do you manage fear?
I focus on “this too shall pass”…it always does. I’m a horrible flyer and yet still fly. It’s about making it through the fear and getting to the destination.
What has been your most satisfying moment in life?
Whoa. Professionally? Having Ron MacLean throw to me, on Hockey Night In Canada, “for more Stanley Cup Final post-game coverage — we send you to Vancouver and Jody Vance with Seeking Stanley.” Personally? The moment my son was handed to me by our OB/GYN after a long journey through IVF.
What makes you happiest? What do you do in your non-work time?
Hands down – gathering my village and feeding them. It’s especially fabulous when dogs are involved.
