The holidays are a popular time for couples to take the next step in their relationship with many engagements being announced. After the initial buzz and excitement of the engagement then starts the planning. With expectations of the picture-perfect wedding at an all-time high thanks to apps like Instagram and Pinterest, planning your dream day can often become an overwhelming task. Luckily Vancouver’s wedding planner extraordinaire, Aly Armstrong, has come to the rescue partnering with the JW Marriott Parq Vancouver to bring FLEUR, a luxury wedding show and forum to Vancouver on January 21, 2018.
FLEUR will be the city’s first wedding show to bring together elite industry professionals and celebrity influencers, offering guests hands-on watercolour and calligraphy workshops. Future brides will peruse through luxury details and trends in a fully immersive setting that boasts a French flair.
“FLEUR will be a place of celebration for every bride-to-be. We live in a beautiful city that draws on design inspiration from other places around the world – we wanted to bring this into our luxury wedding show. You no longer have to leave Vancouver to experience current trends from across the globe,” said Aly Armstrong, Principal Planner of Aly Armstrong Event Planning & Design. “Our intention is to make FLEUR an immersive experience for brides – a place where they can learn from the very best in the industry, and leave feeling inspired.”
FLEUR will feature a panel discussion with celebrity influencers, Kaitlyn Bristowe and Monika Hibbs among others, as well as a fashion presentation showcasing the city’s most prestigious bridal gown boutique, Blush Bridal. A luxury décor walk will take guests on a sensory journey to five different cities around the world. Guests will have access to world-renowned photographers, The Collective You, who will bring a VIP portrait experience to a select number of brides. This event is quite unique as it caters to both men and women. Gentlemen attending the wedding show will be treated to a luxury, multi-floor penthouse suite featuring a rooftop and city views, hosted by Style By Sarai’s, Jason Sarai.
“With Aly Armstrong creating a new luxury wedding show at the same time as we are introducing our incredible new venue, it was such a natural connection for us to collaborate. We are excited to open the doors to JW Marriott Parq Vancouver and give guests a glimpse into our beautiful hotel and experience its understated luxury firsthand,” said Koreena Singh, Senior Catering Sales Executive of JW Marriott Parq Vancouver. “FLEUR will feature our indoor and outdoor spaces, including our one-of-a-kind park terrace and collection of luxury suites. We’re fully equipped to host a variety of weddings – from intimate celebrations with only close family and friends, to large ethnic weddings with particular cultural and food elements.”
To get you started Aly shares her biggest four pieces of advice for every bride-to-be:
Create an overall budget and ideal guest count. Before you get wrapped up in the excitement of planning your big day, take a step back and discuss how big you envision your wedding to be. Your wedding will be the happiest day of your life – but take caution when planning. Weddings can be costly, so be sure to have a comfortable range.
Pick a venue and a date! Some wedding venues book 1-2 years in advance. While you do want to soak in your time as an engaged couple, it does not hurt to reach out to that one venue you’ve been dreaming about. Give your guests ample time to plan for your day as well – especially if you’re doing a destination wedding.
Hire a planner. A planner will work with you to refine the overall vision and keep you on track throughout the planning process. It is so essential to have someone in place at least on the day-of, so you can enjoy your day.
Focus on the wow-moments and details. You do not have to spend an elaborate amount of money to create impact. Work with your planner and/or decorator to create vignettes and moments where guests eyes will be drawn. Think about where the most highly photographed areas will be and focus your attention there.
