#AskElle: Style Your Space & Sell Your Place

Style sells and with over nine years of experience working with realtors, I can tell you home staging works. With all the home renovation programs and how to sell your house guides, you would think that staging would be Home Selling 101. However, many realtors say that it can still be a challenge to convince their sellers to stage their home.

Home staging is an excellent opportunity to create a warm and welcoming space for potential buyers. You are probably already spending some money painting, fixing little things you never got around to, and cleaning up a storm. The money you initially spend to stage your home is a return on your investment. Hiring a Certified Staging Professional is an added strategic marketing tool to showcase your home in its best possible light and in hiding those little imperfections.

Before & After Staging! | Elle Hunter

Whether your home is vacant, a fixer-upper, occupied, or an old timer, staging your home will help you stand out from the crowd. Statistics show staged homes can get you top-dollar and a quicker sale. With getting top dollar for your home, think of your staging costs as minimal.

There are other reasons to hire a stager, stress reduction! We all know stress is not good for our health. Did you know moving homes is one the biggest stresses you can take on? As a professional Stylist and Stager, I give sellers some calmness by offering an objective eye, removing emotional attachment to things, de-personalizing and decluttering, to give an open and airy feel to your space.

Just as you see your home through an emotional lens, so does the buyer. Buyers buy with emotion. When a buyer sees a home they feel a connection too, they can see themselves living there, and an offer should soon follow.

Stage your space  and sell your place | Desy Cheng

The faster your sell your home, the faster you can get on with your life and in settling into your new place. If a home sits too long on the market, buyers will wonder what is wrong with it, and not even consider viewing it. You do not want that to happen.

Staging a home and getting professional photos taken is in my opinion, a must. Before buyers hit the viewing circuit, they have looked for hours on realty sites. You want to ensure, your home jumps out from the rest and screams “Look at me!” If your home stands out on the inside, perhaps some of those slight negatives such as living on a busy street, not facing the north or south, or not quite in the right location, will not be an excluding factor.

Remember, the staging benefits are for you. So let us recap, what are the advantages of hiring a professional stager and how can they help you sell?

  • Showcases your home in the best possible and hides little imperfections
  • Top dollar for your home
  • Faster sale
  • Reduces stress
  • You can get on with your life (and not making your bed and vacuuming every day)

Wishing you an “easy breezy” sale.
