Here is the journey of Lil’B from the beginning to her fittest version—without resorting to crazy yo-yo diets, severe dietary restrictions, or performance enhancers.
One day you decided to make a change. Why?
I missed being strong and confident. My pants felt too tight. I had what I thought was a really good excuse: A car accident left me unable to move my hip and shoulder easily. I used this as an excuse to stop working out for 3 years. I became miserable and gained 35 pounds. I was miserable because the gym and sports were a huge part of my life and basically my only hobby.
One day my pants were too tight so I went for a jog, then the next day I lifted some weights and couldn’t find my balance so I got embarrassed and gave up. The next week I confided in my coworker about it and she suggested we do lunchtime workouts. That day I started calling personal trainers because I realized how silly I was being. It was hard for me to admit to myself that I needed help. I met with a bunch of female trainers in the city, but only 1 stood out from the initial first phone call!
How did you feel about your health before?
Mentally I was embarrassed that I couldn’t control my eating and I couldn’t workout as hard as I used to. Physically I was tired.
How do you feel about your transformation now?
I feel strong, confident, and like I have gained some really good friends along the way in the process. I love having an active social life, plus having a community of like-minded people (the “Tribe”) doing their best to feel better and be better is dope AF.
Has this new routine affected other parts of your life?
I have more energy after work, and what’s really cool is how I think it’s caused a ripple effect in my friend circles. In various circles, I think I have enabled my friends to not be afraid to reach out for help from a trainer and to prioritize health. It was hard at first to say “no” to going out for dinner with friends, but good friends want to hang out no matter what, so they were accommodating and we started doing other things, like working out, going for walks, etc.
What is your go-to exercise?
KETTLEBELL SWINGS & SQUATS. I love those! Guaranteed way to make you feel sore as hell.
What plans do you have for the future?
I want to be more toned. I was able to lose over 15 lbs and that’s awesome, but maybe even get visible abs?! Who knows! I have the momentum to continue and learned to change my mindset to be able to achieve my fitness goals. I plan to continue to encourage those around me to get to their goals too!

One of the best things about my work is how I get to witness these transformations firsthand. Lil’ B has a bigger-than-life personality that radiates positive energy and self-belief. It’s clients like her who succeed at their goals. Attitude is everything.
