Los Angeles Fashion Week Spring 2016 is a hub for creatives and the designs showcased have a very Los Angeles Feel (by LA Feel, I’m talking about how when you look at a collection, you think of sun, surf and Californiaaa-cation?).
I’ve had the pleasure to sit down with an LA-ite designer who uses fabric and cuts to recreate the definition of the California girl.
Jenine Nerecina is the creative mind behind this flowy, feminine collection and is the definition of #Girlboss. This woman basically runs the entire show behind the scenes and has found her true passion in making women feel beautiful and comfortable on the inside and out!
Tell me about the name Cosmogyral?
If you look up Cosmogyral, the definition is whirling around the universe. The brand initially started out as strictly resort wear but as I’m working on more collections, I’m slowly figuring out who the Cosmogyral woman really is.
It’s your second season at LAFW, how has the experience been for you and what have you learned from the first time around?
Working with LA Fashion Week (lafw.net not to be confused with other shows) has truly been a life changing experience. I finally have an outlet to show off my work besides the Internet and social media. I’ve also grown close with some of the LAFW team and they are amazing people to work with! The opportunities I’ve had by being a part of the show is unbelievable. Who knew that in less than a year of running my business that a couple of my gowns would be shot with a Rolls Royce and an elaborate estate?
Tell me about the collection that you’re showcasing at LAFW? What inspired the designs?
This season’s collection is inspired by the good and bad girl in every woman. We all have both counterparts and this collection celebrates both. The color scheme is so opposite from last season. I wanted to show off a darker side, but the ethereal aesthetic stays.
If you could describe Cosmogyral in one word, what would it be?
The Cosmogyral woman is regal!
