04/09: Nifty for Fifty Indie Design Sale

30 local designers are offering deep discounts at the 10th annual Nifty for Fifty sale on Sunday at the historic Heritage Hall, at 3102 Main Street, Vancouver where all items are priced at $50 or less. It’s a great opportunity to meet local, independent clothing designers, makers and jewellers, where everything from hand bags to handmade jewellery, clothing, accessories and housewares will be on sale.

“We’ve really seen the annual Nifty for Fifty event grow over the last ten years,” says event producer and Adhesif Clothing designer Melissa Ferreira. “Shoppers can find some unique local designs and really high quality pieces at affordable price points.”

New Nifty for Fifty designers for 2017 include: Black Bird Studios, nature inspired ceramics (Gabriola Island);  Lana Betty, minimal gold and silver 3D printed jewellery (Vancouver); Torn Clothing, sustainable fashion for women (Squamish); Two of Hearts Boutique, women’s wear (Vancouver); Wallis Evera, modern hemp business wear (South Delta); Windsong Jewellery Design, elegant hand-fabricated artisan jewellery (Coquitlam); and Winterluxe, recycled Cashmere (Vancouver).

Returning designers include Adhesif Clothing, Allison Wonderland and Erin Templeton.

Celebrating the 10th year of Nifty for Fifty, the sale will feature locally made refreshments by Mixers and Elixirs as well as a live music with DJ Emmanuel Ferreira.

Cash is king at this one day sale; many designers will only accept cash for payment.

The Entrepreneurial Woman behind Nifty for Fifty

Melissa Ferreira, owner and designer, Adhesif Clothing saw an opportunity to bring independent Lower Mainland fashion designers, artists and jewellers together to offer a large, one day group blowout sale to local shoppers.   The annual event, which started out with 12 designers in 2007, has now grown to 30 sellers with over 3,000 shoppers attending this one day sale.  2017 is the 10th anniversary of this growing event.
