Pacifica Enlighten Eye Brightening Shadow Palette “Island Life”
The Pacifica eyeshadow palette “Island Life” is full of beautiful soft neutral shades, perfect for day wear and all skin tones. I suggest applying a shadow primer first to help it adhere, and get the full pigment depth. I love that this line contains natural ingredients also found in their soaps and body care items. If you are a novice user of shadows, ensure you do not overload your brush and tap out the excess product, as this shadow has a slightly powdery consistency. The lightest shades can also be used as a cheek highlight or over top of your lipstick for some added pop, which makes for some nice versatility.

Lippy Girl shadow in First Base is a soft, shimmery nude that works for all skin tones. Lippy Girl just proved that they can do so much more than lipstick well. Elate Cosmetics ‘Quintessence’ | www.elatecosmetics.ca

Elate Cosmetics Create Pressed Eye Colour “Quintessence”
Elate shadows have become a personal favourite of mine as the line is local, toxin free, and has proven to be great to work with. Quintessence is a perfect summer pearly peach, great for a subtle natural look. Blends very well does not fade or crease, and has fabulous pigmentation. To start you need to purchase a palette to put the shadows in, but their bamboo palettes in two sizes are recyclable and beautiful, and your shadows and other Elate products are anchored firmly in place with a magnetic base.

Luna Cosmetics Eyeshadow in “Jace”
The Ipsy glam bag is a great way for small companies to get their products out to market for people to try. In my latest glam bag there was the Luna “Jace” eyeshadow, a right on trend matte coral peach. To date there are three beautiful shades are available in the line. Those with sensitive skin should know that the line contains petroleum by-products such as mineral oil which some users may be more sensitive to.

When it comes to eye shadow (and all make-up for that matter) natural ingredients are always better. Smart consumers should also question the quality and where products are made. Canada and the EU have a much stricter list of ingredients that they allow in cosmetics, which is great news for those north of the 49thparallel.

Everyday more companies are getting on board eliminating toxins contained in their products and ceasing animal testing, but there is still so much work to be done.
