Etsy Canada brought their annual Summer Trends Presentation to Vancouver, to give tastemakers and influencers a sneak peek into what to expect for the coming season, in home décor and fashion. Guests mingled with local Etsy sellers and Etsy’s trend expert, Dayna Isom who was on hand to guide everyone through this season’s trend forecast. She highlighted some of the many local artisans and their beautiful wares that are available on the multinational e-commerce website.
The presentation took place in the airy interiors of The Home on Beatty Street, and along with the informative presentation, guests were treated to a delicious breakfast courtesy of Boy with a Knife, and even a little craft time making some adorable decorative Pom Pom Moon hangers with Saige and Skye.
So, what are the key trends and items to look out for in summer 2017?
We all daydream about getting away from it all to the perfect destination, but how about bringing a little bit of travel into your bedroom. This season sees global influences in textiles and homewares, so it’s the perfect excuse to bring back a little something from your travels. If you can’t get away here are a few local brands that can make the globe come to you.
Black is always on trend and so what makes this season special? Well, this season sees a lot of matte blacks adding a chic textural edge to the classic shade.
Think soft watercolours and weathered looks with light textiles and natural textures.
Tassels and Trims
A lot of the added detail this season will be seen in the trims and edging details. However, think clean lines not fussy. Look for ruffles, tassels, and scalloped edges.
The 80’s are back but with a modern redesigned aesthetic look. Keep an eye out for geometrics and playful prints.
To keep in the loop and up to date on all the latest trends from your local artisans, make sure to head over to Etsy’s online store and keep them on your favourites tab.
