Summer: From Lemonade to Caterering

Do you ever find yourself on a hot summer afternoon, swirling your straw in a delicious iced lemonade and suddenly you have got an idea brewing for a fun, summer get-together?  We have all been there. Right after you think about the Who and the Where, then you need the delicious, mouthwatering, sweet and savoury, scrumptious, crunchy, hot and cold – FOOD! Which ultimately means either you provide all the deliciousness yourself or you do the it the reasonable way and find a reliable caterer – professionals in making your event perfect.

We all know since childhood, food has been magical binding force that brings us all together and turns ‘a few people hanging out’ into a ‘must be at’ party.

The Social Caterer

Choosing the right caterer to fit your event needs can be tricky but here are my personal tips on how to make the best decision with the least stress and while you ponder this, check out the images (and click for links) of the local companies I recommend!

a) Look at the social media and photo galleries of the caterers

This helps to have a better idea of how everything looks aesthetically and will help you decide on whether the type of cuisine and set up would fit your event. It would also give you an idea of the catering company’s specialty! Some caterers specialize in larger events, whereas some specialize in cocktail parties.

The Butler Did It Caterers

b) Schedule a tasting session (not just for wedding cakes!)

The best way to figure out if the food would be a good fit is through a tasting session. Most caterers would be open to a tasting session (depending on the size of your event).

Railtown Caterers

c) Look at the menu and see how many items ‘speak to you’

A no-brainer is to have a look at the menu online. Most, if not all catering companies have a comprehensive website that outlines prices and the menu. That way, you’d be able to decide immediately if it’s a yes or no!

The Savoury City Caterers

d) Consider what type of services you would need for the day of the event

Think of the day of your event and what services besides food you’d need. Would you need certain plating, or professional on-site staff?

The Healthy Chef

Definitely think realistically about your budget!

One of the most important things to remember is the budget you have set aside for your party and to pick caterers accordingly. Most catering companies have a ‘Request Quote’ option on their website.
