THEClosetYVR, Vancouver’s new eco-luxury clothing store threw open its doors this past August and is here to fill those gaps in your wardrobe without making big ones in your bank account.
For the style and eco-conscious dresser, fashion shopping can be a daunting task. Add in budget restrictions, and you find yourself poring over the eclectic racks of the local thrift shop or limiting yourself to that one outfit splurge when a little extra cash rolls in.
After 3 years building their online business, owner Helen Siwak and her husband Vlassis Xanthopoulos have decided to open the doors on their closet, and open a retail location in Vancouver’s busy Gastown district. THEClosetYVR is a new concept store bringing you luxury for less. The buyers at the closet spend the many hours curating high-end, luxury, new or gently worn fashion so you don’t have to. With a focus on designer labels, you can score the likes of Versace, Balmain and Alexander McQueen for less than a meal at one of the neighbouring restaurants.
Not everything in the store is pre-loved. Helen has curated many local eco-artisans in her time in the eco-fashion world, and you will find everything from all-natural soaps and deodorants to some of the biggest up-and-coming designers on the local fashion scene.
And, if you want to make a little more room in your own closet to fit your new treasures, the closet also does consignment with one of the most competitive rates in the city. Add in door-to-door delivery, full styling services and a rental service for those that only want an outfit for that one-off occasion, and this is the store Vancouver has been waiting for.
To take a look in The Closet YVR head over to 360 Carrall Street in Gastown, Vancouver – Mondays to Saturdays from 11am to 6pm, and by appointment only on Sundays.
Update: THECloset YVR closed October 31, 2015. The heritage building it resided in was sold for development.
