When travelling, we often think hard about what kind of luggage we are going to take, and what to pack in it. However, all too often we forget about the one bag we will be carrying with us always through our vacation, and that is our purse. Making sure you have a great purse packed with all the things you will need can make your holiday so much easier, and the experience so much more enjoyable.
Choosing the Right Bag
Size is going to be a principal factor, you do not want something cumbersome, but you do want something with endless room to for all your essentials, think Mary Poppins. Easy access is important, make sure you can see into and access your purse easily, you don’t want to be rooting around in the bottom of your bag in the middle of a busy street. A good closure is going to keep your belongings safe. Make sure your bag has a zipper that closes all the way, so that no sly hands can make their way in unnoticed. It is a horrible thing to think about, but sadly too often large groups of tourists attract pick-pockets. With this in mind, make sure to keep your bag at the front of your body, and if it is a cross body bag position it, so it sits across your stomach.I am a huge fan of this Lipault purse. Lipault blends style with practicality perfectly. This purse has a huge opening and lots of room for storage, plus its beautiful styling means I can switch it from day wear to night wear without any concerns. The practicality of the Lipault design should be no surprise when you learn they are owned by Samsonite. Luckily for us, they just launched a stand-alone boutique at McArthurGlen Designer Outlet in Vancouver.
Now you have chosen the bag make sure you know what to put in it!A Water Bottle
Take an insulated water bottle. You can fill it up before you head out in the morning, and many cities across the world have water fountains so you can top it up during the day. An insulated bottle will mean your water stays nice and cool. Not buying water bottles will save you money and the landfill one more bottle. I love the Santevia Energy Flask, the Mineral Basket inside infuses your water with calcium, magnesium and other beneficial minerals boosting the pH of your water to 9, delicious and nutritious.Sunscreen
Make sure to decant your sunscreen into a travel sized bottle so you can keep it in your hand luggage, but also so you will not be lugging around a huge bottle of product all day long. These GoToob bottles are great they also come in different colours so you can keep track of what is in each bottle.
First Aid Medication
If you have a medical issue, you will obviously take at least the medication you will require for the day. However, even those without health issues should think ahead. Simple things like having bandages, painkillers, insect bite treatment and indigestion medication on hand can be a holiday saver.
A Paper Map
Yes, I know your phone has google maps, but a paper map back up is always a good plan, expect the unexpected. Getting lost in a foreign city if you do not know the language can be a little daunting, to say the least.
Wherever in the world, you end up being prepared can keep you safe and save you time, money and stress.
Wishing you safe and stylish travels!
